Good fault-tolerance, factory floor networking and flexibility in terms of software are considered in designing the system. In realizing this objective, the environment is not only designed keeping in view the Open Architecture Controller (OAC) specifications but also to launch a platform for total factory automation. Such a machine controller is not only required to perform control functions but also do other functions like database maintenance, tool path planning and optimization, and operator interface among many other useful functions. The primary aim of this research is to develop a real-time PC-based servomotor control system.
